PAT SPAINHOUR
contemporary painting and printmaking
Home Page

This painting began as a monotype, one single print on
Japanese paper, with warm encaustic paints (melted wax). Skill is certainly involved, but the technique depends on my response to chance happenings during to printing process, and painting directly onto the monotype. One color application leads to my next thought, and it contiues on and on until I feel the painting is finished. I get lost in this game of creativity. It is an improvisational response.
